THE FIFTY 50 CLUB SUPPORTS TWO OBUASI RESIDENTS

Two (2) individuals, David Ababio Awuni and Monica Oware have benefited from the benevolence of the Fifty 50 Club, an Obuasi based non-profit association made up of employees of AngloGold Ashanti, AngloGold Ashanti
Malaria Control (AGAMal), AGA Health Foundation and other workers in Obuasi, Ghana and abroad.
David Ababio Awuni who attended Bolgatanga Senior High School, gained admission into the Computer Science Program at KNUST, Kumasi, but without support because his elder brother who doubles as his sponsor lost his job. The Club therefore provided David with a laptop and paid the 2021/2022 academic year school and hostel fees. The club has made a further commitment to pay for the remaining two years of his program (depending on his
academic performance).
On her part, Monica Oware a 50-year-old widow who resides in Obuasi Kokoteasua with a
blurred vision, which doctors said is due to a spinal cord and waist disorder. She currently
sells garden eggs and pepper at the Obuasi main market, which is far away from her
residence. Monica also has four (4) children and has given two out as domestic workers in
Accra and Takoradi due to hardship and her illness, and currently living with the other two children. Monica received a commercial food processor

(fufu pounding machine), a rented store (for a 4-year tenancy period) close to her residence, stocked with provisions. It is the hope
of Fifty 50 Club that this would reduce Monica’s commute and enable her to earn a decent livelihood. The Founder and President of the Club, Jacob Edmund-Acquah, expressed his gratitude for the generosity of all members and threw an invitation to new members. “Seeing the smiles on the faces of these beneficiaries is always heartwarming and makes life a lot worthwhile”he said.
